To provide an image forming apparatus which facilitates analysis of a cause for an occurrence of abnormality regarding.

A control part 700 of a copying machine 1 is provided with: an abnormality detecting part 701 for detecting the occurrence of the abnormality based on a signal from a sensor part SS; an information collecting part 702 for collecting abnormality information which is information regarding the occurred abnormality when the abnormality is detected; an abnormality storage part 705 for storing abnormality information; an abnormality classifying part 703 for identifying the position of occurrence of the abnormality and classifying it to two or more classifications which are set before hand according to the occurrence position; and an abnormality recording part 704 for writing the abnormality information to the abnormality storing part 705 corresponding to the classification by the abnormality classification part 703.
