To prevent transfer material from being soiled due to soiling at the tip of a transfer material guiding member by suspended toner separated and scattered from a toner image carried on an image carrier.
The image forming apparatus has: the image carrier; an image forming part to form a toner image on the surface of the image carrier; a transfer means to transfer the toner image formed on the image carrier to the transfer material; and the transfer material guiding member arranged on the upstream side of the transfer means in a transfer material conveying direction and guiding the transfer material conveyed to the transfer part of the transfer means. The transfer material guiding member has a non-contact member arranged on the image carrier side in non-contact with the image carrying surface of the image carrier, and is provided with a conductive non-contact toner collection member on the surface of the non-contact member. The non-contact toner collection member is arranged so that potential to the image carrier can be higher than that at any spot of the non-contact member.
