Abstract:
To provide an image forming apparatus, capable of detecting failures of all light sources within a laser diode array regardless of image recording operation.
The failures of all light sources within the laser diode array are detected in image writing operation by successively performing light emission while switching the light source to be detected for failures one by one between scanning after generating a synchronous detection signal, and performing failure detection of the light source by a synchronous detection signal generation means.
