To provide an image forming apparatus which can solve failures such as deterioration in an image or deterioration in productivity occurring when an image path is longer than a paper supplying path and deterioration in transfer paper by being stored in a tray for a long period of time in an image forming apparatus having ATS paper supplying function.
The image forming apparatus having an intermediate transfer belt in which respective transfer points in a photoreceptor and a paper transferring means can come independently into contact with each other and transferring the image that is formed on the photoreceptor to paper through the intermediate transfer belt switches to a tray with a shorter distance to the intermediate transfer belt on a transporting path compared with the tray when the transfer paper stored in that tray which is set as the tray for paper supplying becomes zero number of pieces when a plurality of trays exist for storing the same size transfer paper.
