Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having an intermediate transfer body which can hold a toner image without causing scattering and discharge omission of the toner image to be primarily transferred and can be naturally neutralized from transfer of a certain color to transfer of the next color in the case of full color image formation.
SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with an image carrier 1 by which the toner image according to image information is formed, the intermediate transfer body 8 by which the toner image formed by the image carrier 1 is primarily transferred and a bias roll 11 which secondarily transfers the unfixed toner image primarily transferred by the intermediate transfer body 8 in a recording medium P. The surface resistivity of the intermediate transfer body 8 is within a range of 1010 to 1014 Ω per unit area and the volume resistivity is not more than 1013 Ωcm. When the surface resistivity is expressed as 10XΩ per unit area and the volume resistivity is expressed as 10yΩcm, there is relation of x≥y between both resistivities.
