PURPOSE: To constitute an image forming apparatus in which a size is further reduced and an operability is improved by allowing laser light emitting means provided under recording medium receiving means to emit a laser light obliquely upward.
CONSTITUTION: A laser scanner unit 1a is so installed as to be substantially disposed along a placing surface 6a inclined obliquely upward of the same direction as that of the surface 6a provided obliquely upward of a placing unit 6 provided on an upper surface of an apparatus body A. Accordingly, even if a height of the body A is lowered as much as possible, an inclining angle of the surface 6a of the unit 6 can be increased, and hence sufficient quantity of recording media can be placed. In this case, an inclining angle θ1 of the surface 6a to a horizontal direction is about 15-45 degrees by considering discharging performance, and set to 20 degrees. It is preferably about 20-40 degrees. Further, an installing inclining angle 62 of the unit 1 to the horizontal direction is set to about 9-12.5 degrees. Therefore, an emitting angle θ3 of the laser light L to the horizontal direction similarly becomes about 9-12.5 degrees, and hence recording sheets of about 50-100 can be placed in the unit 6.
