Abstract:
To provide an image formation apparatus and a control method which can prevent the service life of a transfer body from becoming short and prevent the quality of an image transferred to a recording medium from being reduced.SOLUTION: An image formation apparatus comprises: a transfer body which carries ink discharged from an ink jet head and transfers the ink to a recording medium; a coating roller which is in contact with the transfer body to apply precoat liquid; a supply roller which supplies the precoat liquid onto the coating roller; a supply unit which supplies the precoat liquid onto the supply roller; and a control unit which performs control so as to stop the supply by the supply unit at timing at which the ink is not discharged, and reduce the pressure-contact force of the coating roller to the transfer body in comparison to timing at which the ink is discharged after the precoat liquid on the coating roller and supply roller is applied to the transfer body.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
