Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve strength against the atmospheric pressure and shock resistance by using a bonding agent to fix one end of a spacer, shorter than a space between back/front plates specified by a supporting frame, to the back or front plate.
CONSTITUTION: A back plate 2 mounting a surface conduction type electron emitting element and a front plate 1 mounting an image forming member are air-tightly connected by using a supporting frame 3, to form an air-tight vessel. Between the front/back plates 1, 2, a spacer 4 as an atmospheric pressure supporting member shorter than a space between the back/front plates 2, 1, specified by the supporting frame 3, is inserted, and at least one end of the spacer 4 is fixed to the back plate 2 or front plate 1 through a bonding member 8 composed of black color frit glass.
