Abstract:
To more appropriately detect the state of a cover.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a detection unit configured to be able to output a signal in response to opening and closing of a cover; a first control unit that includes a receiving unit configured to be able to receive the signal from the detection unit; and a second control unit configured to be able to control the supply of power to the image forming apparatus. In the second control unit, in response to the signal from the detection unit, a cover latch is set which indicates the transition of the cover from a closed state to an open state. In a second operation mode with lower power consumption, the first control unit acquires, from the second control unit, a latch variable which indicates the state of the cover latch, and detects the state of the cover based on the latch variable.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
