PURPOSE: To enable the development of an image forming material with only water, to make the material almost independent of moisture in the air, and to maintain the initial performance during long-term storage by forming a water- developable photosensitive diazo resin layer on a transparent thermoplastic polymer film as a support and a water-insoluble colored image layer on the diazo resin layer.
CONSTITUTION: A water-developable photosensitive layer 2 is formed on a transparent film as a support 1, and a water-insoluble colored image layer 3 on the layer 2. When the resulting image forming material is exposed through an original from the support side, the exposed parts 2' of the layer 2 are made insoluble, and a difference in solubility in water is produced between the parts 2' and the unexposed water-soluble parts of the layer 2. The exposed image forming material is developed by pouring water from the layer 3 side. By softly rubbing the surface with absorbent cotton or sponge, the unexposed parts of the layer 2 dissolve in the water and flow out together with the parts of the layer 3 on the unexposed parts. The exposed parts remain on the support 1 as a colored image after the development. Thus, a clear negative image to the original is obtd.
