PURPOSE: To suppress the coloring of the white surface part of a photographic image after processing even when continuous processing is carried out by simple rapid processing under reduced replenishment and to suppress the increase of the density of the white surface even during the preservation of the image by specifying a photosensitive material contg. a pyrazoloxonol type dye having substituents and conditions in development.

CONSTITUTION: A photosensitive material using a silver halide emulsion contg. a high silver chloride emulsion having ≥90mol% silver chloride content and contg. a compd. represented by the formula is continuously processed while replenishing a soln. by 20-60ml per 1m2 of the photosensitive material in a developing process. In the formula, each of R1 and R2 is an electron withdrawing group having a Hammett's substituent constant σp of 0.3-0.6, each of R3 and R4 is H, halogen, etc., A is 1-8C alkyl or 6-10C aryl, each of M1 and M2 is H, an atomic group which becomes a monovalent cation or a metal atom and each of (p) and (q) is an integer of 1-5.
