To provide an image forming method by which electrification and carrying of a toner can be stabilized for a long term, stable image density can be obtd. without fog or irregular density, and dart or mixing of colors are hardly caused.
By this method, an image is formed by developing an electrostatic latent image on a latent image holding body using a developer layer on a developer carrying body. The developer carrying body has a surface resin layer. As for the developer, a toner containing a charge controlling agent expressed by formula is used. In formula, M is a metal element selected from zinc, iron, nickel and cobalt, and R1 and R2 are hydrogen or 1 to 6C alkyl groups. Moreover, this method is carried out under the condition of 0.03≤M/D≤0.09, wherein M (mg/cm2) is the toner weight in a unit area on a developer carrying body and D (μm) is the volume average particle diameter of the toner.
