PURPOSE: To increase density of image, and to reduce the generation of fog by bringing in contact a photosensitive material contg. a specific nondiffusive- dye providing compd. and a metal compd. slightly soluble in water with a prescribed complex forming compd., thereby increasing pH of the photosensitive material.

CONSTITUTION: The color photosensitive material comprises a photosensitive silver halide, a binder, the dye providing compd. hydroxide). The component (A) is exemplified by the compd. capable of forming or releasing the nondiffusive dye which does not contain a group capable of dissociating proton having ≤6PKa. The image is formed by image-wisely exposing the photosensitive material, followed by bringing in contact it with a complex forming compd. (such as guanidine picolate) which is capable of releasing a base by effecting the complex forming reaction with a metal ion constituting said metal compd. slightly soluble in water, in the presence of water or a hydrophilic heat-meltable agent (such as urea). Said complex salt forming compd. is formed a supply sheet on a substrate, followed by supplying said compd. from said sheet, or said compd. can be supplied by dissolving it in water.
