An image input and display system, which has the user interface for creating and editing source electronic images, includes: a user input means for selecting and operating an image object; the image object; a display means for displaying a system response to a user's selection operation; a processor connected so as to receive an image editing operation request and an access request to a memory structure; a user interaction module for entering a new image material or selecting and modifying an existing image material without preselecting an input mode; and a displayed object data structure, internal state data structure and selected material data structure.
