An image 10 for inspection of a color shift which is used for the inspection of the color shift of an image in an image forming apparatus provided with a plurality of image creating parts 1 and a recording material carrying body 2, and formed on a recording material by each image creating part 1, comprises: a first color line image 11 in which linear elements elongating to the carrying direction of the recording material 3 are arranged at equal intervals to a direction crossed with the carrying direction of the recording material 3; a second color line image 12 in which tilted linear elements in a positional relation tilted to a direction crossed with the first color line image 11 are arranged; and a line image lapped part 13 in which the first color line image 11 and the second line image 12 are lapped at a part, and also, a plurality of lapped line image positions are present. An image forming apparatus using the same is also covered.
