To provide an image pickup device with a shake correcting function for reducing burdens for performing a driving operation and saving power consumption by the driving operation by automatically stopping the driving operation of shake correction based on a shake correction amount at the time of a zoom operation.
Angular velocity detection means 17x and 17y detect angular velocities around two axes orthogonal to the optical axis 11C of a photographing optical system 11 having a zoom lens 11A, and an arithmetic means constituted of a microcomputer 15 calculates the shake correction amount on the basis of the detected angular velocities. On the basis of the computed shake correction amount, two shake correcting means 19x and 19y perform a shake correcting operation in a prescribed direction. A control means constituted of the microcomputer 15 stops the operation of at least one shake correcting means during lens movement at the time of zooming and restarts the operation of the shake correcting means when the zoom operation is ended and the lens is stopped.
