To provide an image processing apparatus, an image forming apparatus, and an image processing method, which effectively operate image processing.
An image processing unit 10 of an image forming apparatus is composed of a controller 11 and a printer engine control unit 20. The printer engine control unit 20 includes: an edge detector 21 which performs edge detection of image information; a random number unit 22 which superposes a random number on the image information edge-detected by the edge detector 21; a gray-scale corrector 23 which makes gray-scale corrections of the image information on which the random number unit 22 superposes the random number; a screen processing unit 24 which performs screen processing of the image information, whose gray scale is corrected by the gray-scale corrector 23, on an area gray-scale basis; and a modulation unit 25.
