To provide an image processing system and an image processing method that perform correction processing for reducing errors included in a distance image and a parallax image.
The image processing system includes: an error determination processing section for inputting the distance image including the distance information up to a subject or the parallax information, detecting an error signal included in the distance image and outputting a synthesis coefficient according to an error degree in an image region unit; a low-pass filter processing section for applying a low-pass filter in relation to the distance image to generate a noise reduction distance image; and a distance image synthesis section for generating a corrected distance image by synthesis processing of the distance image and the noise reduction distance image. The distance image synthesis section executes the synthesis processing for setting a synthesis ratio between the distance image and the noise reduction distance image in the image region unit according to the synthesis coefficient in the image region unit outputted by the error determination processing section to generate the corrected distance image.
