Image data generated by photographing an object of photography are analyzed to calculate degrees of matching of a plurality of predetermined classifications, for example, a person image degree, a scene image degree, etc. The calculated degrees of matching are corrected by reflecting user's preference. Correction contents previously stored corresponding to the respective classifications are reflected at rates corresponding to the corrected degrees of matching to determine contents of correction to be performed for the image data. Consequently, when an image is corrected, the degree of matching of a classification considered to be important is only varied, so correction matching the user's preference can be performed without requesting the user to have high-level knowledge.
