To provide an image processor that can improve the performance of a laser beam printer using a plurality of laser beams by performing error diffusion in parallel in real time by the number of the laser beams.
This image processor has an error memory, error diffusion processors of the number equal to the number of the laser beams, data delaying devices among the error diffusion processors, and video signal generators of the number equal to the number of the laser beams and performs error diffusion in parallel by the number equal to the number of the laser beams. In order to match the timing of the image data on and after second line to error information generated by the error diffusion and reflected in the next line, the image data are delayed by once inputting the data to a delay circuit. The error information which is generated by the error diffusion on the last line of the lines subjected to the parallel processing and reflected in the next line is held in the error memory.
