PURPOSE: To further miniaturize an image reader in which the optical axis of a rod lens array is arranged in parallel with an original reading plane and to reduce the number of constituent components.
CONSTITUTION: A main body housing 13 is manufactured by resin mold provided with three-dimensional stereoscopic circuits on a front surface and a rear surface, and the rod lens array 16 is housed in a recessed part formed at the main body housing 13, and a LED 17 which irradiates the original plane and a photoelectric conversion element 18 are directly packaged in the main body housing 13. Also, a photo-electric conversion element substrate in which the photoelectric conversion element is packaged is molded integrally with the resin mold. Also, an element which detects whether or not an original 11 is inserted to the resin mold is packaged. Therefore, since the electrical wiring of each component is performed by the three-dimensional stereoscopic circuits on the main body housing 13, no separate wiring board is required, and the number of constituent components can be reduced, which enables the whole device to be miniaturized.
