Title:
IMAGE RECORDER AND METHOD OF DETECTING ABNORMAL RECORDING ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3931307
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder which can detect abnormalities of recording elements without using a test pattern formed separately from a recording image, and to provide a method of detecting abnormal recording elements.
SOLUTION: A region where a distance between edges of adjacent dots is not smaller than 1/2 of a dot diameter is extracted from dot data which shows a dot arrangement on a recording sheet generated from printing data. The extracted region is set to be a discharge abnormality detection region. A discharge abnormality of nozzles corresponding to an image of the extracted region is judged on the basis of read information of the extracted region among read information which is the image reading result obtained from a printing detection part. The dot data is changed if the condition is satisfied by moving (or deleting) the dots at a region which does not satisfy the condition. A discharge abnormality of nozzles corresponding to an image is judged from read information of the image formed on the basis of the changed dot data. Dots for detection may be added in a range which satisfies the condition.
