Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce write/read load for an image memory and, at the same time to realize a special reproduction function such as horizontal scrolling in the unit of 1 dot by decreasing a huge image data quantity in 16M colors required to express a natural image in an image reproducing device that displays graphics, including a TV game as well.
SOLUTION: This reproducing device adopts a YUV system where a transfer means for writing and reading image display data to an image memory 3 depends on a luminance signal Y and color difference signals U, V and the color difference signals U, V adopt data constitution with a sub-sampled format. Further, the device has an image data transfer means that attains horizontal scrolling in units of one dot by transferring the image data of the YUV system together with a Y/C signal that discriminates a luminance signal component and a color difference signal component.
