To enable a user to accurately have a clear view of a monitored object by displaying an image on an image display section in a suitable state without distortion through an imaging apparatus for monitoring.
The imaging apparatus for monitoring includes a camera section 2, an image processing section 3, and the image display section 4, and the camera section 2 images a monitored area as four front, left and right, and lower partial areas. A light beam from the front area is converged by a front optical lens Lc, light beams from the left and right areas are converged by left and right 45 rectangular prisms Pl and Pr and left and right optical lenses Ll and Lr, and a light beam from the lower area is converged by a lower 45 rectangular prism Pd and a lower optical lens Ld. Individual ommatidium images formed by the optical lenses Lc, Ll and Lr, and Ld are imaged by a solid-state imaging device 6. The image processing section 3 outputs the imaged ommatidium images to the image display section 4 individually or as a seamless composite image covering the whole monitored area according to settings that the user inputs in advance.
