A temporary storage device 28 stores CCDRAW data acquired through a lens optical system 16, a CCD 20 and an analog/digital converter 26 at photographing, thereafter a signal processing section 34 applies various signal processes and a companding processing section 36 applies compression processing to the CCDRAW data, and a media controller 42 records the data to a memory card 10. In the case that a storage capacity for storing CCDRAW data for one picture or more is left in the temporary storage device 28 even during the signal processing by the signal processing section 34 or the recording processing by the media controller 8, the processing is interrupted and the photographing is permitted. After the temporary storage device 28 stores CCDRAW data acquired by new photographing, the interrupted processing is restarted.
