The imaging system includes an interchangeable lens (100) including a focus lens, and the camera body (200). The camera body (200) includes a second communication means (212) capable of communicating with a first communication means (107), an imaging element (202) operable to generate an image signal from an optical image formed by the interchangeable lens, and a body controller means (203) operable to transmit a reference signal for providing a reference of a driving start timing of the focus lens to the interchangeable lens through the second and first communication means. The body controller means (203) transmits the reference signal to the interchangeable lens during a period for which process related to the communication is not performed between the first communication means and the second communication means.
