To reduce the size of an imaging system and to obtain an image at low cost by an arrangement wherein the imaging operation of an image data being inputted from an external unit through an external interface can be performed only by a second imaging means.

An image data is received from an external unit 800 connected through an interface section 108 provided at the image read-out section 100 of a copy machine and delivered to an electrophotographic imaging section 200. A paper passed through the electrophotographic imaging section 200 is stacked in an intermediate tray 301 of a second imaging means, i.e., an ink jet imaging section 300, by means of a carrying path switching claw 225. The stacked papers are carried sequentially, starting from the lowest one, to an ink jet unit section 308 by means of a paper refeed roller 302 and subjected to color printing on the opposite sides thereof. According to the arrangement, the imaging system is reduced in size and an image can be obtained at low cost.
