This impact energy absorbing body comprising a surface wall part and a rib structure part is formed with a brittle part in the surface wall part so as to reduce the impact load. This constitution can suppress the impact load of the surface wall part generally having another function as an interior component so as to provide the impact energy absorbing body having an impact absorbing performance fitted to a using state to be imposed on the vehicle interior component. The brittle part is formed as, for example, a thin-wall part or a notched part. The surface wall part and the rib structure part may be integrally formed with each other, separately formed from each other, or fixed together later.
