Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify one or more visible objects inside a picking aperture inside a display area by retrieving an identifier stored in the address of an auxiliary butter corresponding to a specified picture element and identifying one or more visible objects inside the picking aperture as picked objects.
SOLUTION: In a normal operation mode, a rasterizer 210 decides the specified visible object for defining a scene corresponding to the given picture element of a display device 112 and a memory controller 212 stores the identifier allocated to the specified object in the address of the auxiliary buffer 218 corresponding to the given picture element. In a picking mode, the picking aperture inside the display area is user-inputted and the memory controller 212 retrieves the identifier inside the address of the auxiliary buffer corresponding to the picture element related to the picking aperture. Then, one or more visible objects inside the picking aperture are identified as the picked objects.
