PURPOSE: An improver for liver disorder having an inhibitory action on GPT in serum and yet high safety, containing chamigrenal, chamigrenol, etc. extracted from dried fruit of Schizandra chinensis Baillon of the family Schizandraceae of Chinese and Japanese drug as an active ingredient.
CONSTITUTION: An improver containing a compound shown by the formula (R is aldehyde, hydroxymethyl, carboxyl, or carbomethoxy) as an active ingredient. The compound shown by the formula, namely, chamigrenal (R is aldehyde), chamigrenol (R is hydroxymethyl), chamigrenic acid (R is COOH), etc. is found to have improving action on liver disorder like lignan in purified oil of Schizandra chinensis Baillon of the family Schizandraceae. The compound shown by the formula suppresses rise in GPT value caused by CCl4 in serum, but has extremely high safety.
