To provide a means capable of performing an individual authentication with low psychological resistance and difficulty of forgery by acquiring data satisfactorily reflecting the characteristic of an individual with good reproducibility while dispensing with or minimizing a maintenance and management work for preventing the contamination of a device.
In an individual authentication device using a vain pattern of a finger, the emission quantity of a light source is optimized on the basis of a taken finger image, and emphasis processing of the vain pattern is performed in an image operation for authentication. According to this, an individual authentication with low psychological resistance, difficulty of forgery and high authentication precision can be realized while dispensing with or minimizing the maintenance and management work for preventing an infection by contamination of the device or an error of acquired data.
