To provide an individual identifying device of high reliability forgery of which is extremely difficult to conduct and which is used with no psychological resistance.
An individual identifying device 10 consists of a microphone 12, a voltage amplifier 14, a filter 16, a feature extracting section 18, a discrimination section 20 and a feature recording section 22. The microphone 12 detects finger rubbing sound generated by a user rubbing his fingers in order to identify him, the section 16 filters the detected signals and ultrasonic components of the signals are taken out. The section 18 conducts feature extraction based on the taken out ultrasonic components of the signals. The section 20 collates the feature information extracted by the section 18 with the feature information beforehand recorded in the section 22 to determine whether exists a coincedence between these pieces of information or not.
