To provide an information recording/reproducing device of which the labor and time for dubbing by a later manual operation can be saved by furnishing with a function for automatically dubbing after a reserved video recording is finished, and to provide an automatic dubbing method using this device.

The information recording/reproducing device, by which the video/audio signal are recordable/reproducible with respect to a recording medium, is characterized by equipping with: an operation input section for inputting an operation request from the user; a setting means for setting whether the dubbing of the recording medium is allowed or not after the reserved video recording operation is finished, when the operation request inputted from the operation input section is the reserved video recording of at least one or more titles; a capacity judgment means for judging whether a free capacity of the recording medium is larger than a capacity of the aforementioned title or not, when the setting means sets that the dubbing is allowed; and a performance means for dubbing the title to the recording medium when the capacity judgment means judges that the free capacity of the recording medium is larger.
