An environment descriptor DB 14 stores an environment descriptor for defining an environment for providing an input/output screen, and an environment definition setting means 11 refers to the environment descriptor DB 14 to select a descriptor for representing the environment, and creates environment definition 17. A display component DB 15 stores display component definition based on the item type DB 13 and the environment descriptor DB 14. A display component selection means 12, on the basis of item definition 16, the environment definition 17 and the display component DB 15, selects an display component appropriate for the environment.
