PURPOSE: To obtain many functions with a compact constitution by constituting one or two more operating parts consisting of vector matrix multipliers and their peripheral circuits on the same semiconductor substrate and coupling a processor with respective operating devices or with another device to transmit information.
CONSTITUTION: Many optical vector matrix multipliers 9 and many peripheral circuits are integrated in one Si wafer. Therefore, these elements are combined to improve the function. In one example of the combinations, plural operating parts 36 are coupled by one bus line 35. In another example, many operating parts 36 are arranged and only close operating parts 36 are coupled to constitute a network as the whole. Since respective operating parts 36 are operated in relation to one another, a complicated and multifunction system is constituted.
