CONSTITUTION: In an OCR input mode, in accordance with the position of a cursor 42 on a display screen, an OCR input board 55 can be displayed on one of the upper part or the lower part on the display screen. In such a state, in a character display frame 56, an unrecognizable character is displayed by '?' and a correction mode for executing the correction of the unrecognizable character is set by moving a cursor 57 to this '?'. In the OCR input mode, first of all, a receiving mode is set, the data from an OCR is transmitted and when the data transmission is completed, an editing mode for editing automatically the received character is set. Thereafter, by inputting a 'write key' or a 'full write key' on the OCR input board 55, a character-string displayed in the display frame 56 is inserted into the position of the cursor 42.
