To store local information such as information about an event opened in the area or traffic jam prediction for providing it to an onboard device of a vehicle traveling inside the area via an information conveying device of a route bus, roadside machines, and a server.
In the local information providing system 1 having a local information distribution device 10 installed in a bus terminal BT of a route bus 200, an information conveying device 20 mounted to the route bus 200, roadside machines 30, and a roadside information server 40, local information (local information 110 for provision) stored in the local information distribution device 10 is transmitted to the information conveying device 20 of the route bus 200 departing from the bus terminal BT to be stored. When the route bus 200 travels inside a target area, local information (information 120 for transportation) stored in the information conveying device 20 is transmitted to the roadside machines 30, and the information is transferred from the roadside machines 30 to the roadside information server 40. In the roadside information server 40, the local information from the respective roadside machines 30 are gathered to be delivered to the respective roadside machines 30, and then, transmitted to the onboard device 50 of a general vehicle 500 from the roadside machines 30.
