The information retrieval apparatus 1 stands by till a keyword is input in a keyword input column 25 (S1), and then performs weighting processing of the input keyword (S2). Here, the information retrieval apparatus 1 retrieves a word of an input retrieval keyword from a weighted value DB 43 to extract weighted values for each of a plurality of databases, to perform addition processing to the extracted weighted values and to determine a database with the largest numeric value as an object for retrieval. After that, retrieval processing is executed to the determined database (S4), and a retrieval result is presented on a screen (S10).
