Abstract:
PURPOSE:To shorten an access time when the stroke is comparatively short by providing two actuators of fine and coarse modes, and detecting the movement of the fine actuator associated with positioning movement to control the coarse actuator using the detection signal. CONSTITUTION:In case of a long stroke, the fine actuator is fixed so that it does not vibrate because of the acceleration/deceleration of the coase actuator, and the coarse actuator is made move. In case of a comparatively short stroke, the fine actuator is made move while detecting the direction and the number of pieces of the tracks that pass the spot. In accordance with the said detection, the coarse actuator is made pursue after the fine actuator. In case of a stroke for a few tracks, the positioning is achieved by jump, and also, as using a coarse scale for positioning externally provided, the coarse positioning is executed and then, the fine positioning is executed by jump.
