A user inserts a cash card into the card insertion/discharge slot 3 of the automatic teller machine and then the branch code on the cash card is read out to find the area server correspondign to the branch code according to a correspondence table stored in a memory. The automatic teller machine 40 is connected to the area server and the screen of the display touch panel 7 is changed into an information selection menu screen. When an item of desired information to be obtained is selected on the information selection menu screen, information stored in the area server for the item is displayed on the display touch panel 7.
