PURPOSE: To automatically inform the facsimile transmission result by sending the result of transmission of data given to a 2nd facsimile equipment from a 1st facsimile equipment to a switchboard and then sending the result of transmission to a designated telephone sat from the switchboard.

CONSTITUTION: The data on the picture information are sent to a facsimile equipment 6 from a facsimile equipment 2. Then the equipment 6 sends the information on the data transmission result to a transmission result decision processing function 22 via a switchboard 4. The function 22 decides the reception state and sends this deciding result to a user/user information setting function 23. Then the function 22 converts the decision information into the prescribed data and sends this data to a call setting message setting function 24. The function 24 sends the data on the function 23 and a number input function 21 to the switchboard 4 together with the information on the call setting message. The switchboard 4 sends the received message to 8 telephone set 7. The set 7 extracts the information showing the transmission result and decodes this information to turn it into the displayable date. This data is sent to a transmission result display function 73 which displays the transmission result in characters.
