Title:
INFRARED RAY DETECTING ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3182703
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an inexpensive downsized infrared ray detecting element having high sensitivity by arranging a pair of conductive parts oppositely, While spacing apart from each other, on a semiconductor fiber thereby forming a hybrid fiber.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of conductive parts 2a, 2b are arranged, while spacing apart from each other, on a semiconductor fiber 1 having electric resistance variable with temperature thus forming a hybrid fiber 3. The conductive parts 2a, 2b are composed of good conductors having resistance close to zero and the resistance R of infrared ray detecting element is determined by the gap (d) between the pair of conductive parts 2a, 2b according to a formula; R = ρd/s. represents resistivity of the fiber 1 and even when the resistivity ρ is set high in order to enhance sensitivity of infrared ray detecting element, resistance R can be decreased by decreasing the gap (d). Since the resistance R can be controlled without varying the length and the cross-sectional area (s) of the fiber 1, a fiber 1 having high resistivity can be used with low resistance without imposing negative effect on the thermal characteristics of the fiber 1. Furthermore, number of fibers 1 to be arranged in parallel can be decreased because of low resistance.
