Abstract:
PURPOSE:To inhibit shrinkage of a polymer and remove defect induced by the shrinkage, by compressing a prepolymer-contg. substance in a specified range of concn. and polymerizing it at a specified concn. during polymn. process. CONSTITUTION:After the inner wall face of a capillary 11 is treated with a binder, a prepolymer-contg. substance (e.g., a mixture of acrylamide, bisacrylamide crosslinker, a polymn. initiator, a cocatalyst and water) is introduced into the capillary 11. Then, this capillary 11 is put in a pressure chamber 13 wherein water 15 is filled in advance and the prepolymer-contg. substance is compressed in a specified concn. range by compressing both ends of the chamber 13 by means of a pump system 19 provided with a gas cylinder 21, an oil-pressure amplifying pump 25 etc. Then, polymn. is carried out by keeping it in a specified concn. range, whereby a polymer without any shrinkage defect can be obtd. It is thus possible to prepare a polyacrylamide gel etc., suitably used for electrophoresis.
