Abstract:

To provide a composition for inhibiting the activities for taking in glutamine of a glutamine transporter in the glutamine/glutamic acid cycle.

This inhibitor of the glutamine/glutamic acid cycle contains theanine extracted from tea or the like as an active ingredient. The analepticum of a glutamine/glutamic acid cycle disorder also contains the theanine. The glutamine transporter acts the role of taking in the extracellular glutamine in the glutamine/glutamic acid cycle. The amount of the synthesized glutamic acid is reduced and the stimuli-sensitive concentration of the glutamic acid is regulated by inhibiting the taking-in activities of the glutamine transporter because the taken-in glutamine is converted to the glutamic acid by an enzyme. As a result, for example, the inhibitor contributes to the therapy of various kinds of symptoms and diseases caused by the excess of the glutamic acid.
