Abstract:
To reduce wasteful ink consumption accompanying complete filling of ink into an ink head, when suctioning ink into an ink head in an empty state not filled with ink and completely filling the ink head with the ink.SOLUTION: An inkjet printer comprises: an ink head having an inkjet nozzle for discharging ink according to an inkjet system; a suction pump for suctioning ink via the inkjet nozzle; a damper device with an ink retention chamber communicating with the inkjet nozzle; detection means for detecting transit time required until a prescribed amount of ink retained in the ink retention chamber of the damper device transits to the ink head, from start of ink suctioning by the suction pump; and determination means for determining an ink filling state of the ink head, on the basis of a detection result of the detection means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
