To surely detach a recording medium S sticking closely to an ink fixing member and to prevent defective carriage of the recording medium.
The ink contains a resin and a solvent compatible with the resin. After the ink is transferred onto the recording medium S, the ink fixing member 1 such as a silicone roller or a silicone belt which shows swelling properties for the solvent contained in the ink is brought into contact with the surface of the recording medium S, so as to harden the ink on the surface. Since a detaching mechanism 2 constituted of a blade of Teflon (registered trademark) is provided in the vicinity of the ink fixing members 1 and 1a, the recording medium S is detached and a defective carriage thereof is prevented. The detaching mechanism 2 may be in no contact with the ink fixing member 1, while it may be in contact therewith, unless a mechanical breakdown of the ink fixing member is brought about.
