PURPOSE: To perform printing without recovering an unnecessary ink droplet, by applying the electromagnetic force according to printing data to an ink droplet to adjust the flight route of the ink droplet.
CONSTITUTION: A pulse generating circuit 38 outputs the signal having the pulse width according to printing data. When a magnetic field is generated from a coil 34, electromagnetic force is applied to the ink droplet 30 emitted from a nozzle 18 toward printing paper 32. This electromagnetic force acts on an ink droplet 30 as repulsive force and, when the electromagnetic force is weak, the ink droplet 30 moves along a flight route 100. When the electromagnetic force becomes strong, the ink droplet 30 moves along a flight route 102. When the electromagnetic force becomes further strong, the ink droplet 30 moves along a flight route 104. Therefore, even when the nozzle 18 is not moved, the printing position of the ink droplet 30 can be adjusted by adjusting the flight route of the ink droplet 30.
