To provide an ink-jet printer which has a wiping device for a print head assembly, for wiping nozzle plates of the fixed print head assembly with a wiper blade movable in a linear direction.
The ink-jet printer is formed of an ink cartridge, the print head assembly, a platen, and the wiping device. The ink cartridge includes an ink storage section in which ink is stored, and is fixed to a printer main body. The print head assembly has the plurality of nozzle plates arranged below the ink cartridge in a main scanning direction. The nozzle plates each have nozzles, for ejecting the ink fed from the ink storage section. The platen is set at a location spaced downward a predetermined distance from the print head assembly, and functions to hold print paper transferred in a paper transfer direction. The platen has a hole in the main scanning direction in a manner corresponding to the nozzle plate. The wiping device is protruded from the hole formed in a lower portion of the platen, and functions to wipe the nozzle plates during a movement in the vertical direction.
