PURPOSE: To enable to largely change the lags of printing signals using a simple and economical construction by a method wherein the lags of printing signals are changed by changing the preset value utilized on an address counter of an RAM.
CONSTITUTION: There are shown an RAM20 and a presettable counter 21X. With a signal fed to a preset terminal PS, a value set by switches S1WS8 is set on the counter, and one count-up is conducted each time when a clock pulse CK is fed in. For example, with a counter of 8 bits, it is possible to conduct a 255-stage adjustment of lags by use of 8 switches. With only the switch S4 turned off and with the value on the counter set to 8 in decimal digit, there are provided 247 (=255-8) stages; in this case, the RAM feeds out the data stored in the address which is 247 stages before the present one into a head driving circuit 12, and then the RAM is fed with the next data, which will be fed out 247 stages after the present one.
