To provide an ink residual quantity detecting device which enables detection of a correct ink residual quantity by preventing leakage of a light by a simple constitution, and to provide an ink cartridge equipped with the ink residual quantity detecting device, and a liquid droplet discharging apparatus using the ink cartridge.
The ink residual quantity detecting device is equipped with an ink container 17 which has a flexibility, has at least a part made a light transmission part and is filled with ink; a plurality of light guiding members 33 fixed to be opposed via the light transmission part at the light transmission part of the ink container 17; and a photosensor with a light emitting element 24 and a light receiving element 25 disposed at both sides via the light transmission part and the plurality of light guiding members 33. The light guiding members 33 are arranged to be movable following the deformation by a change of the ink residual quantity of the ink container 17.
